So why is fitness & nutrition key to managing menopause symptoms & how can it help me?

Your nutrition and lifestyle choices play an integral part in how you experience the menopause transition, as well as impacting longer-term health and risk of chronic disease. Looking holistically at how your diet and lifestyle habits affect your hormone balance and making meaningful changes can help to reduce menopausal symptoms, keep bone density and reduce the risk of heart disease whether or not you choose to take HRT.

The menopause transition period from perimenopause to post-menopause is a critical window of opportunity to support our brains and bodies to recalibrate correctly to the new, lower hormone levels. In doing so we can not only experience a more balanced, calm and smooth menopause transition with fewer disruptive symptoms, but also set ourselves up for great health, vitality and positivity for the rest of our lives.

A healthy lifestyle can minimise the effects of the peri – menopause journey, helping to keep the heart and bones healthy and strong. Many women feel that this is a good time to review the way they treat their bodies, but they don’t know where to start.

I’m Josephine,

I’m on my own perimenopause journey. I am a busy working mum yet I have always had the energy and found the time for exercise and healthy eating habits. However, three years ago, everything changed. I became exhausted, drained, and struggled with sleep disturbances, leaving me fatigued during the day. I even experienced heart palpitations, night sweats, joint pains, and insomnia. It was a scary time, and I had no idea what was happening to me.

After becoming a certified personal trainer and studying living nutrition, I recognised my perimenopause symptoms. Given my family’s breast cancer history, I chose a natural approach and further educated myself on fitness and menopause nutrition. Today, I’m peri meno symptom-free and empowered with the knowledge to manage any challenges.

I’ve embraced the Japanese word for menopause, “KonenKi,” which means renewal of years and energy. It’s a powerful and positive way to describe this journey in a woman’s life.

Every woman’s experience with perimenopause can be different, but we all have the choice to prepare ourselves and manage it. Making the right lifestyle changes and prioritizing our health will prepare us for the years ahead.

What is menopause & how do I know if my symptoms are Menopause related?

Menopause is one day that comes when your periods have stopped for 12 consecutive months due to lower hormone levels. This usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55. After this one day you are then post menopause

It can sometimes happen earlier naturally. Or for reasons such as surgery to remove the ovaries (oophorectomy) or the uterus (hysterectomy), cancer treatments like chemotherapy, or a genetic reason. Sometimes the reason is unknown.

Perimenopause is when you have symptoms before your periods have stopped.

Menopause and perimenopause can cause symptoms like weight gain, aches & joint pain, anxiety, mood swings, sleep disturbances, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods These symptoms can start years before your periods stop and carry on afterwards.

How to get started

Work with me online – choose the training and nutrition package that suits you. Not sure which is best? Get in touch and I will talk you through it. It’s your body and your life, so you need to find a plan that will work for you and around your schedule.

How can I access this online?

From the initial consultation, you will get a written nutrition summary and fitness programme within 5 working days. Everything is online via email or wats app. Progress reviews / weekly check-ins will be via Zoom & PT sessions will be 1-1 online via Zoom or in person (Greater Manchester area).

All plans have direct access to myself.

The HIIT live class can be attended in person (Stalybridge) or accessed online via Zoom.

What happens next?
